Suspected Colombian Drug Kingpin Extradited to U.S.

A suspected Colombian drug-trafficking kingpin was arraigned Thursday in a New York federal court docket on fees of overseeing multi-ton shipments of cocaine imported into the U.S. and ordering the killings and kidnappings of rivals and law-enforcement officers.

Federal prosecutors accused Dairo Antonio Úsuga of being the previous chief of the Gulf Clan, calling the group the biggest and strongest cocaine-trafficking group in Colombia. Mr. Úsuga, who can also be identified by the alias Otoniel, was captured in Colombia last year after years of being one of many nation’s most wished fugitives. He was extradited to New York on Wednesday.
