A rocket launched Friday evening making it SpaceX’s 18th this yr, a report for a non-public firm.

The rocket carried 53 satellites for the Starlink web constellation into orbit after blasting off from California.

The Falcon 9 booster lifted off from Vandenberg House Power Base at 3:07 p.m., and minutes later the primary stage landed on a droneship within the Pacific Ocean whereas the second stage continued towards low Earth orbit.

SpaceX later tweeted that the satellites have been efficiently deployed.

Starlink is a space-based system that SpaceX has been constructing for years to convey web entry to underserved areas of the world.

Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX has a whole bunch of Starlink satellites orbiting Earth at an altitude of 340 miles (550 kilometers).
