Jan. 6 committee to carry eight hearings in June


WASHINGTON — The Home choose committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol will maintain a series of eight hearings on the probe in June, Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., stated.

The hearings will begin June 9, with some scheduled for prime time and others throughout the day, he stated.

Thompson instructed reporters as he left the Capitol on Thursday that the general public will hear from outdoors witnesses, individuals “we’ve not heard from before,” including that “their testimony will be on point as to why this investigation was so important.”

“We’ll tell the story about what happened,” he stated. “We will use a combination of witnesses, exhibits, things that we have through the tens of thousands of exhibits we’ve interviewed and looked at, as well as the, you know, hundreds of witnesses we’ve deposed or just talked to in general.”

Thompson additionally instructed reporters that the committee will ask a minimum of three GOP lawmakers by the tip of the week to return earlier than the committee, together with Republicans serving in each the Home and Senate.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., a key member of the committee, stated final week that the hearings might be dramatic and embody explosive revelations that the panel has been piecing collectively behind the scenes for months after interviewing greater than 800 witnesses.
